Too Cute

I was feeling nostalgic last night, so I decided to go through old pictures of our boys.  I look back on those pictures of when the boys were smaller, and I can't remember how hard it was at that point in our lives; all I can see is how much I love those little boys.

I am not the best mom.  I struggle every single day.  But I love my boys, and I am learning every day how to be a better mom.

As I looked through those pictures, I felt the courage and ability to be a better mom.  I decided right then that I needed to take more pictures of my boys.  I want to look back on this time and remember the love that was in our home and the happiness that these two brought us every single day.

I want to remember the moments that at the time seemed small and not really important, but I know that when I look back on these pictures I will smile and remember how little they were and how sweet they were.

Christmas 2012

It's hard to believe another Christmas has come and gone. It's sad that after all the anticipation leading up to it that its over. We had a great Christmas though.
I was starting to feel homesick since most of my siblings were going to be in Powell for Christmas, but I decided the best way to avoid being unhappy was to focus on others. And we were blessed with many chances to do just that.
Sunday before Christmas, we went around our neighborhood and delivered cookies and introduced ourselves to some neighbors we had not met yet. It was a lot of fun to do that as a family, and it was great to get to know some of our neighbors. We are blessed to live in a great neighborhood with a lot if great people. We are the youngest family by far on the block, so people were excited to have some life back in the neighborhood :)

Christmas Eve, we had Greg's aunt over for dinner. I am glad we had invited them because it turned out her husband had to work and she would have been along Christmas Eve. It was great to have family over the celebrate with.

Celebrating Christmas with small children is a lot of fun, and it is easy to forget you self when you are focusing on trying to have a great Christmas for your kids. The kids seemed happy with what Santa brought, and played well together all day! A Christmas miracle in my opinion!
The kids favorite gifts were anything involving Avengers. They made gear Superheroes don't you think?:)
While it was still hard to be so far from family this year, it was really nice to be together as a family for our first Christmas in our new home and to make some new traditions.

Giving Service

Our relief society has teamed up with a local non profit organization the winter to provide service for individuals in need in our area. I have tried to help out when I can and bring the kids when I can as well. I want them to learn the blessings of service! Last week, we helped out together food baskets for Christmas, and the kids had a great time helping. They helped count fruit and vegetables and helped carry juice. They had fun helping, and I hope they learned something about giving service in the process.

Cool Dude

Dress Up

One of my favorite things about having small children is watching them use their imagination. It is amazing some of the things their little minds come up with.
Lately, our boys have been on an Avengers kick. Their favorite Avenger is the Hulk, so they have been pretending they are the hulk for the past couple of weeks. And in case you didn't know, the Hulk does not wear shirts. As a result, our boys have not worn shirts at home for quite some time. Deagan understands that you have to wear shirts in public, but Kayden hasn't totally made the connection that he shouldn't take his shirt off in public to be the Hulk. :)
Deagan also was into dressing up as Sabta before Christmas. He would put in his big winter coat and hat and then carry around a bag full of toys. He made a pretty cute Santa:)

Library time

I love taking our kids to the library. We have been blessed to live by some pretty great libraries too! A new one opened up shortly after we moved to Maryland, and it is super nice.
They recently had a train display set up at the new library, and the kids were mesmerized by it. It was really cool because of all the detail that went into it.
I am grateful for places like this to take our kids!

Trike-A-Thon

Both boys are attending a preschool based out of a high school, and they are just loving it! And I am loving the time that I have now to workout uninterrupted!

A couple of weeks ago, they did a fundraiser through the school where they got to ride their bikes around the gym. Deagan has turned into a pretty good little biker, but Kayden is still trying to figure it out. So while Deagan was riding lap after lap, Kayden stayed right by my side.

They both looked so cute though in their helmets! It was so fun to watch.

Thanksgiving 2012-Washington

We had the chance to go to Washington state to visit Greg's side of the family for Thanksgiving this year.  It was so fun to spend time with his whole family.  The kids had a great time playing with all their cousins too.  It was times like these that made me so sad that we live so far from family, but I am so grateful for the times that we can get together! I just wish I would have thought to take more pictures than I did.  We were just too busy having fun :)
