Deagan Rolled Over!!!

I have been trying to get Deagan to roll over for so long, and he finally did this morning when I wasn't even expecting it. It was a very exciting moment for me and I'm sure for Deagan as well!

And the adventure continues...

So another begins on our 10 week adventure. Greg came back to Ephrata for the weekend to be with us, and we had so much fun. It was good to be together again. He left yesterday to continue his internship last night, and Deagan and I are hanging out unti this Friday when we will go down to be with him for good! YAY! We are very excited to be together, and I am really excited to be in Seattle. Apparently, where we are going to live is pretty much down town, and so there will be lots of things to do. It is a much different environment from Rexburg, so it will be a good change. Greg called this morning and said that it snowed an inch there last night, and everything was caos. Nobody knows how to handle snow there. He said that all the schools were canceled, and that he might get the day off tomorrow because it is suppose to snow more and if it does buses won't be running. It is kind of funny to me because in Rexburg there could be a foot of snow and life continues on. That's the difference between Rexburg and Seattle though.

Deagan continues to grow and grow right before my eyes. He puts EVERYTHING in his mouth now. I didn't realize how soon this was all going to happen. He is just growing like crazy. Here are a couple of pictures from the weekend.

He still doesn't seem to have the rolling-over down yet, but he does a lot of these mini push-ups.

I swear he must be teething because he chews on everything. I gave him a cold teething ring, and he did not want to let go even when he was in his jumperoo.

When I took this picture, he looked so much like an Akin to me. I have a hard time distinguishing his features between Greg and I, but when I saw this picture I thought he DEFINATELY looked like me. It reminds me of a picture that was taken of me when I was about his age.

President Hinckley's Passing

I found out this evening that President Hinckley passed away tonight. I am sure that most people know of his passing, but I wanted to share some of my thoughts and memories of him. President Hinckley is pretty much the only Prophet that I can remember. Growing up, when I would sing "We Thank Thee O God For A Prophet." I thought of him. I remember attending the Billings, Montana Temple dedication and seeing him there. I had the privilege of attending conference at the Conference Center a few times, and each time I saw him, I was amazed by him. What a wonderful man he was. He made a great impact on my life. It is sad that he has passed, but what a wonderful place he is in now. It makes me wonder what kind of experiences he is having now as he is being reunited with his wife and other family members, and most of all with Heavenly Father and the Savior. I can't imagine the joy he must be experiencing. I am so grateful to have been a part of the church under his leadership.

Update!

So we are finally in Washington! After a 13 hour car drive in a car that PACKED to the limit, we made it safely Saturday night. Greg started his internship in Seattle on Tuesday, and I am staying in Ephrata until we can move into our apartment next weekend. I miss him like crazy, and I know that Deagan does too. We are very excited to see him this weekend when he comes up. It will be nice to be together as a family again. Deagan and I are keeping ourselve busy though. I finally learned how to knit today! I have been wanting to this for years, and now I finally know how. My goal is to make a scarf, and if that goes well maybe something more! Deagan is growing up like crazy. He is eating rice cereal now. At first he didn't really seem to like it, but he has been eating it for a couple of weeks now and I think he likes it. It is hard to stay too sad about Greg not being here when I get to take care of Deagan. He just makes things so much better with out even trying.

This was the second time that we fed rice cereal to Deagan, and it got all over him. It is hard to tell from this picture, but he was pretty covered.

And We're Off!

So it seemed as if this time would never be here, but we are finally getting ready to head to Seattle for Greg's internship with the State Department at the Passport Agency. We found out Friday early morning through e-mail that Greg's security clearance went through, and he begins his internship on January 22. Which is exactly one week from today! AHH! I have to say that I am very stressed with this temporary move. I am not sure what to bring because I don't want to bring too much, but at the same time I want to have some stuff there since Deagan and I will be spending our days together at our apartment while Greg works. I am stressed because I haven't gotten that much done yet, but I don't know where to begin. Despite the stress that is in my life right now, I am grateful that we are leaving because just waiting and not doing a whole lot was beginning to lose its appeal. Greg and I were so bored last Thursday that we went bowling at noon. We were pretty much the only people in the alleys with the exception of a construction group of guys eating lunch. In my opinion, I would not choose the bowling alley to go and eat a good lunch.

Now we are desperately looking for a place to live because as of now, we are homeless. I actually mind end up staying with Greg's family in Ephrate while Greg begins work and he will stay with a friend and his wife. While this might be the best solution until we find a place, I would really like to go down together as a family. It will all work out though, but I am praying desperately that it will work out sooner than later. We are grateful for this opportunity that we have, but will miss it here. We love the ward that we are in and the people who live around us. We will be excited for the time when we return to our home, but we are determined to make the best out of the situation that we will be in. I am excited for the adventure. This may sound childish to those of you who have read the "Twighlight" series, but I am actually kind of nervous to be in Seattle because of the stuff that happens in Seattle in the books. Lame I know, but nonetheless, I am a little spooked. I am pretty sure that I won't have any problems with vampires though, hopefully!

A few more things...

I am so excited for this New Year. I love staring a New Year because it gives me a feeling of starting over.  There are so many things that I have resolved to do better on, and I hope I will be able to make a lot of improvements this year.  I am excited for the changes that will come in our family.   Thinking back on the past year, I feel very overwhelmed that I was greatly blessed.  I look forward to what lays in wait for me in this New Year.

We got to spend the New Year with my family, and we had so much fun.  I love being with family.  They are so supportive to us, and I feel, again, so blessed.

My mom got a "bebe pod" to Deagan for Christmas, and as you can tell from his expression, he really likes it!

Deagan has been sucking on his whole hand for a while now, but tonight he found he thumb.  He did this for about a half hour.  I hope this isn't a habit that will last for years to come.

I love how alert he is now.  You can just tell from his eyes that he is just so fascinated by everything around him.

Our friends let us borrow this suit for Deagan.  He only wore it through Sacrament Meeting because it was too small for him. He spent the rest of church in his onsie.  I love how cute he looks in this suit though!  It makes me sad that the first time he wore it, it was too small.  But it is a good sign that he growing big!

Deagan is on the move!

We got Deagan a Jumperoo for Christmas this year, and he really loves it!  At first, I think that he wasn't quite sure what to do with it, but he has mastered it now!  He is also becoming quite the talker.  He growing up before my eyes.  I love this little guy so much, and I am excited for this new year and for the many milestones that he will make this year!
