Let's all give thanks!

'Tis the season to be grateful!  Fa la la la la la la la la. ( Yes I sang it out to make sure I had enough 'la's')

With it being the Thanksgiving season, my mind is turned towards thing that I am grateful for.

1-My family.  Where would I be without them!?
2-Greg.  The best husband any woman could ask for.
3-Deagan.  He brings challenges and frustrations, but above all he brings me joy!
4-My apartment.  It has really become our home.  It is where we brought Deagan home from the hospital.  It is where memories have been created.
5-My job.  I don't always act like I am grateful for it, but we are surviving because of it.
6-Our car.  We cleaned it today, and I have never loved it more!
7-Our ward.  You are all amazing people who I look up to and am inspired by!
8-The gospel.  Where would I be with out it?  The knowledge that I have helps me to get through life.
9-Food.  I could not survive with out it.  Too bad I like it too much!
10-My body.  I am able to do almost anything that I want because of this body that I have been blessed with.  I have had a love hate relationship with it my whole life, and I am glad to say that right now I love it!

Let us all give thanks this holiday season!

Every moment is a teaching moment

It's Thanksgiving break.  Therefore, lots of down time.  In order to enjoy this limited free time, we decided to go see Twilight.  I have been talking about it so much that Greg had to see it for himself.  While we were there, I learned some very valuable lessons:

1- Toddlers are no fun at a movie that you really want to see. (again)
2- The Rex is not a family friendly center like they advertise.  This lesson was learned when I had to change Deagan's diaper.  I went in to the bathroom.  No changing table.  Last resort, change him on the floor.  Problem, the spot that I put him on happened to be a invisible puddle of bleach.
3- Whenever I take Deagan out of a movie, make sure that there are no vacuums in sight.
4-Apprently, vacuums are much more entertaining then a room completely dedicated to entertain kids.
5-If I really want to see the movie that I paid to see, and Deagan is just not cooperating, bring the vacuum in the theatre with us! (Don't worry about the EXTREMELY long line of people that has formed to see the next showing of Twilight.  I m sure they ALL completely understand the reasoning for stealing a vacuum.)
6- In order to avoid any questioning as to why there is a vacuum in the theatre; RUN AWAY!
7-I will never bring a toddler to a movie that I really want to see again!

Twilight and such

As many other thousands did, I saw Twilight this weekend and absolutely LOVED LOVED LOVED it!  I had the chance to go with my sister Ashley which was SO fun to have a girl's night out!  I had heard so many mixed emotions on the movie before I saw it but I was determined to go in to it with out an expectations, and I am so glad that I did because it was wonderful!  I am a sucker for romance, and this filled that for me!  I think that I am going to have to re-read the series again now!  Now is the countdown to the next movie!

In other news, Thanksgiving break has FINALLY arrived! This past week was so incredibly crazy and busy and frustrating for me, that this break was very much needed to preserve my sanity!  Greg had a HUGE paper to write and was gone ALL the time.  I am use to him being gone quite a bit with school, but this week was over the top for me.  Deagan can be a handful, so it turned out to be an exhausting week!  Luckily, Laura was a saint and was willing to come over and keep me company for a few hours to work on crafts and such.  Thanks Laura!  Friday came though and the celebrations began!  To celebrate we went to Big Jud's.  We had never been there in the 4 years that we have lived here so it almost seemed like a right of passage to go and experience it. It was a pleasant surprise, and we hope to go back some time before we leave!

More updates to come!

Happy Laura?;)

A day in the life of a 1 year old...

Life with Deagan is fun, challenging, exhausting, discouraging, thrilling...you get the point.  We love our little man despite the challenges that might come along with him being 1.  What a great stage he is in despite the dishes, clothes, toys, or other items that string around the house.
Come on a little tour of a day with Deagan as your guide:

While mom and dad are making breakfast, it is IMPERATIVE that I help them by getting out every pot and pan in order for them to see all of their dish options.  Then, I quickly get in the cupboard and show off how cute I am!

If by chance I am not able to get in the cupboard by myself, dad always has my back.

Mom is so busy that I feel she needs a little pampering now and then.  I have found that a head massage helps.
Mom thanks me with a kiss.
My response to that is to pull her hair.
Mom is always taking my picture.  I had had it up to my eyeballs this day, so I just walked away leaving mom posing crazy like all by her self.
I have observed lately that mom really likes to clean.  I feel that rubbing off on me.  The first thing I do when I get ready for the day is go to the coat closet and get the vacuum out.  For some reason mom has put a limit to only vacuuming twice a day.  I know that I can make many more messes to change that!
After we hit our two times a day limit, I still really want to vacuum.  So instead of getting sad about it, I just ride the vacuum like a horse!  So fun!
Mom and dad have tried everything to keep me out of all the cupboards, for reasons that I still not have figured out.  While mom is getting ready, I make sure to get into this cupboard and pull everything out.  I consider this a service to mom.  She seems to enjoy it!

Bathtime

Bathtime is one of Deagan favorite parts of the day.  He would spend his whole day in the tub if we would let him. Even when there isn't any water in the tub, he loves to play in it.  Maybe this is a sign that he won't be terrified of water like I am.  Let's hope!

Cute grin!
Showing off his sexy bod!
Cheese!
Happy boy!
He loves to pull the shower knob thing when he is in the bath.  Luckily there wasn't any water running when he did it this time.

It is hard to be quiet when....

I was just watching the news when I heard a report of LDS members leaving the church because of the church's stance on Prop 8 and its stance on gay marriage. Supposidely there is a website where you can go to "resign" from the church. There is a member who is working against the church who has started this website and refuses to leave the church because he doesn't want the church to feel they have won. I don't know how to be quiet when the church is attacked for something that I feel so strongly about.

"The family is ordained of God. Marriage between man and woman is essential to His eternal plan."

The Family: A Proclamation to the World
(Full proclamation can be found at the following link:)
http://www.lds.org/library/display/0,4945,161-1-11-1,FF.html

The family and the church are under attack more then ever right now. For a moment when I was watching this news program, I had a glimpse of what the early saints must have felt as they were constantly being attacked for their faith and beliefs. I realized that as I watched this that there might come in a time in my life when I will have to stand up for my beliefs against popular belief of everyone around me. What will I do when I am in that situation. I hope that my response will be something like this:

"For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ; for it is the power of God unto salvation to everyone that believeth..."
Romans 1: 16

I have such a strong testimony of this church, and I firmly uphold the family and the church's stance on this issue. I know I might be in the minority, but I can't deny something that I feel so strongly about. I respect those who feel differently, and I just hope that others can return the same favor. We live in a crazy time when right looks wrong and wrong looks right but there is no gray area in the gospel. That is why it is so hard for me to be quiet.

Halloween day

Our little lion celebrated his second Halloween! The day started out with a Halloween party with a playgroup here at UV, and it was SO fun!  Thanks Megan and everyone else who did so much for it!  It was fun for Deagan to have time to run around and be around friends.  He is still not that interested in actually playing with friends, but he does like to be around them!

Here he is in a corner while everyone else is out playing.  Maybe he is shy?
Enjoying some yummy food!
He loves balls and he thinks that pumpkins are balls.  He found a ball that was used for a game and was trying to steal it!
Again, he got into something that wasn't his.  Jackpot!

We had a trunk-or-treat at UV that night, and it turned out great!  Thanks to everyone who came!  Deagan had a  hard night though.  He ate too much candy (I only gave him a couple of pieces, but his little body just can't handle it I guess) and he got sick.  He recovered from that, but then cut his finger open on something.  Poor guy!

We hope you all had a great Halloween!

Halloween sunrise

Friday morning I came home from the gym to this beautiful sight.  It seemed very fitting with it being Halloween that day.  I have never seen a sunrise like this before. Cool huh?
