Down Town Adventure

This past Saturday we decided to play tourist, so we went down town to explore!  Life in Seattle is going good but I am ready to get home.  We are going to leave here on the 29th of March, so we can make it back for our niece's blessing.  I am determined to make this last month a good month!
Deagan has started something new; he is spitting.  It was kind of funny because at church he was spitting towards a little girl about his age in front of us, and the mom of this little girl looked liked she was mad at me for letting him do that.  Like disciplining a 6 month old really works. Maybe it does, but I kind of thought it was cute!
I hope that everyone is doing well!

The streets downtown are way steep!  It might be kind of hard to tell from this picture, but I swear this was at least a 45 degree angle!
Family picture!
View of the city from the piers.
My favorite picture of the day.
The sun was setting, and it looked so beautiful on the water.
This is the tallest building in Seattle.  We went there to see if we could ride the elevators to the top to overlook the area, but it was closed.  It was pretty impressive though from below!
Even Deagan was blown away by the size of it!
Greg and I enjoying a moment to ourselves.  Notice Greg's beard.  He hasn't shaved since we left.
This is the building that Greg works in.

I've Been Tagged!

Thanks Jessica for tagging me because I was actually really excited to do this after I read yours!

I was 11 and I think I was in 5th grade. I felt so old and mature. Ha! My mom had my youngest brother Cody. I don't think that anything really exciting happened because I can't remember really anything from then. Sad.
5 things on my list to do today...
1. Laundry!! Our washing machine here is TINY, so it feels like I do laundry every day.
2. Work on my 101 goals in 1001 days.
3. Go walking at Greenlake.
4. Make dinner.
5. Work on our budget. We have no money and Seattle is crazy expensive! So stressful!
What I would do if I were suddenly a millionaire...
Pay for Greg to get through school. He wants to maybe get his PhD, so I think that we will be in school for a LONG time which means ALOT of student loans. I would hope that I would be generous with my money and help family and friends who need it more than I would. I would create a home gym for me in my house fully equipped with every kind of exercise equipment that I love! I would hire somone to help me learn how to invest because that is a goal of mine to become savvy about that kind of stuff.
3 of my bad habits...
1. Eating sweets! I have a ginormous sweet tooth!
2. Being too hard on myself
3. Blogging all the time and checking other people's blogs. I feel so alone here in Seattle that it helps to keep me up to date and to stay connected to my friends and family!
5 places I have lived...
1. Powell, WY
2. Rexburg, ID
3. Rigby, ID
4. Provo, UT
5. Seattle, WA
5 jobs I have had...
1. I worked for my dad growing up.
2. Subway.
3. NowCap
4. Student Secretary at the Housing Office
5. Assistant Manager at Universty Village
5 things people don't know about me...
1. I am extremely afraid of lakes, rivers, oceans, ponds, etc. Not being able to see the bottom really freaks me out. Who knows what is swimming past my legs. I think I watched Jaws way too many times growing up.
2. I want to become a great chef. I would love to go to school to learn how to cook and bake.
3. I regret not ever sticking with any of the musical instruments that I learned how to play growing up. If I would have stuck with it maybe I would be good like my mom!
4. I am a clean freak! I hate messes!.
5. I am always afraid that people think that I am too young to be married and to have a baby. Not like it really matters, but I want people to take me seriously even though I may look a lot younger than I am.
WHAT WILL BE GOING ON IN TEN YEARS...
Hopefully we will be out of school, myself included. Maybe I will have a few more kids by then, or still working on having some more. Hopefully Greg will be well employed, and maybe we will be living in some foreign US Embassy. I hope to be a much more confident person who has done many things to help other people!

I Tag Ashley, Dawn, and Cori. (Don't feel obligated)

Bath time and other good times

Bath time has become one of Deagan's favorite times of the day. He has gotten really good at sitting up on his own, so I thought we would try it out in the tub. He loved the new perspective on an already loved past time! He loved to suck on his little wash clothe too. The things that become so fasinating to him are endless. It is so fun to watch him discover the world around him. Things that I find mundane and ordinary make his eyes sparkle with excitement. Those are the moments that help me feel that I am doing an ok job even though it seems like I am torturing him on trying to get him to sleep on his own. Which by the way seems to be getting easier. Time if the best medicine I guess.

These last pictures are kind of random, but they almost look like twins don't you think!? It was not planned either.

This picture just makes me smile.

This is the craziest picture of Deagan. It doens't even look like him for some reason. What a cutie.

Parenthood is so much fun. I know that I am guided daily with taking care of Deagan because I know that I couldn't do this on my own. I hope that everyone is doing well! I miss you all!

Things just seem better when its sunny outside!

I know I sounded a little dramatic in my last post, and I didn't want people to feel sorry for me. It was just one of those moments when parenthood was harder than I had ever though it would be. But as the title of my post says, things just seem better when its sunny outside. Especially since the sun has been hiding since we got here. The past few days have been absolutely gorgeous. I had to capture a few pictures os this weather for those days when it is cloudy and grey outside and I fear that the sun will never shine again.

This was taken at the Locks in Ballard, about 20 minutes from where we live. I wanted to take some more pictures but my camera died right after I took this picture. I never knew that this place existed, but it was pretty cool.

These are pictures from my beloved Greenlake Park. This is the view from where I usually start walking.

It might be kind of hard to tell but there is an island in the middle of the lake, and sadly I never knew it was there until my aunt was with me a few days ago. It made me realize that sometimes I just need to stop and observe the beautiful things that God has created for us to enjoy.

This is from the opposite side of the lake with the city in the background.

There are always ducks swimming through the lake, but this the first time that I ever saw them sun bathing. I think that they were enjoying the day as well.

This is killing me!

Before we left for Seattle, Deagan was so good about falling asleep on his own in his crib. For the past month though, he won't fall asleep unless he is in my arms. I decided that today is the day that I get him back on his old habit. I have never felt like such a bad mother as I do now, but I know that this is something that he needs to do. I have never heard him cry so hard before. I will go in and comfort him and tell him that I love him, but as soon as I leave he starts all over again. Does anyone else have any ideas on how to make this transition easier for him and for me?

Sick day at the Zoo

Yesterday morning Greg woke up sick, so he stayed home from work. Later that day he started feeling better, so we decided to go to the Zoo that is just down the road from where we live. It was a fun day to spend a sick day! I think that Greg and I had more fun than Deagan did!

It's kind of hard to tell from this picture, but there are three hippos in this picture. It was kind of a chilly day, so I think they liked being in the water rather than on the wet cold mud.

Deagan all bundled up at the Zoo. He fell asleep half way through. I think we enjoyed it more then he did.
Greg and Deagan in front of a gorilla.

It was crazy because the gorillas had so many human like characteristics. They were pretty interesting to watch!

It was pretty crazy seeing a huge elephant in the middle of Seattle.

Naked Boy!

Deagan loves to be naked. I think so much that he purposely plans out his messy diapers to be so bad that we have to take him down to his nothings. I thought these pictures were too cute.

"Look at me!"
"Don't even think about puting clothes on me."

"It's kind of chilly in here!"

He likes to watch TV in his most comfortable attire.

"Ok, I think I am ready for some clothes now!"

Deagan learns to play the guitar!

Deagan is quite the daddy's boy. He loves to spend time with Greg whenever he can. One night when Greg was playing his guitar, Deagan decided it was time that he learned to play. He is quite the natural don't you think.

Greenlake Park

As I mentioned earlier, life in Seattle is very different, but I am really beginning to enjoy this adventure. After getting lost almost every day, I am beginning to find my way around the area. We live pretty far north of downtown Seattle, but there have been a few times that I have ended up all the way downtown with out even meaning to. Every day is an adventure! There is one place that I have become very comfortable though: Greenlake Park. It is a beautiful park, and I love walking around the lake when its not raining.

Deagan all dressed up and ready to walk!

Right after one of our walks. He slept the whole time, so he looks a little groggy in this picture.

Life in Seattle

I am finally in Seattle now, and I can already tell that this is going to be an adjustment. Seatlle is COMPLETELY different than anything that I am use to. Going from Rexburg to Seattle is kind of a shock. Having only lived in Wyoming and then Idaho, I am not use to the traffic, people, and weather. Greg came to Ephrata on Friday night, and then we drove to Seattle the next morning after President Hinckley's funeral. The weather in Washington has been pretty bad lately, and we weren't sure that we were going to be able to get Solqualmie pass. I know that we were blessed because that afternoon it was opened, and that night it closed again because of Avalanche danger.
This week I have been trying to get settled into our new apartment, which is ironiclly called "The Michelle." It was meant to be I guess. It is SO much different than UV though. The halls smell like cigarette smoke, and the people here are not your usual Rexburg folks. I made a goal to myself that I had to get out of the apartment at least once a day, and so far I have done that. That makes it so much easier with Greg gone all day at his internship. I found the cutest park a few blocks from our apartment which is a great place for walking. There is also a Target pretty close, and I figured out how to get to the Target, Safeway, and Sam's Club, so I have my essentials covered.
I am looking forward to being back in Rexburg, but I am excited for this time that we are in Seattle. It is hard being so far from family and friends, so I am so glad that I have Deagan with me because I don't think if I could do this without him.

Here are some recent pictures of our young man.

He started taking a pacifier out of the middle of nowhere. This is him right after he woke up from a nap.

Posing with his Zoolander lips.

He is getting really good with sitting up al by himself.

"I love sitting up!"

He looks so chunky in this picture. I love it!

Happy Deagan!

He loves grabbing anything that I am holding, so I let him hold the bottle after I was done with it and he sucked on the lid for a long time. He is beginning to understand how to drink out of a water bottle.

This is the park that I walk around. It is so pretty. There is a walking path that goes around the whole lake.

Showing off his sitting skills.

He discovered his toes!
