We have been in Korea for over 2 weeks now. Crazy! I'm not sure if I an really say we are adjusted to life here since we are still living in a hotel, but we are really enjoying this crazy busy place! Of course we have had our ups and downs, but I really feel like we are fulfilling part of the plan that Heavenly Father has for us. That knowledge helps me a lot when I feel homesick for my family, friends, and America.
I am SO grateful that we have the privilege to be on base and to take advantage of everything that if offered here. I really think life here would be so much harder if we didn't have this "little America" to escape to. I am also so grateful for the "little" branch that we have the opportunity to attend. (It is bigger than any ward we have ever been a part of) We have already made a few new friends and that helps so much as we adjust to life here.
We are still apartment hunting. We have seen quite a few places already, and we just haven't found "the one" yet. We are really hoping to get a 4 bedroom apartment, but those are hard to come by it seems with all the items on our wish list. We will obviously have to compromise somewhere, so we just need to figure out where we are willing to compromise. We almost took a place this past week, but we still don't have a car or most of our stuff, so we felt that as much as we don't want to be in a hotel that long, that thats where are going to stay for now. As hard as it was to pass on that apartment, I feel a lot of peace that we made the right choice. I think we are going to take a week off from apartment hunting and then pick up it up again. We are all feeling a little burned out at the moment by this whole process. We are just praying that somehow this will all work out!
Deagan has been in school for over a week now, and he seems to like it! He is kind of struggling though in school and is a little behind the rest of his class. Reading and writing has always been something that he has struggled with, and it seems even more obvious here. I'm hoping that as we work with him at home that he will be able to get back to speed. I hate seeing him struggle!
Greg is enjoying his new job. He has been training and in processing this whole time and will start his first "real" week on Monday. I am so grateful for all he does to support our family! He is trying hard to learn the language and is doing a lot better at it than I am. He has a gift for languages, and I was just not born with that gift. :)
Kayden and I were going to try to do a homeschool preschool since he can't get into preschool here now, but he told me one day "You're not very good at this. This is so boring. We shouldn't do this anymore." :) So yea, thats not going too well. I'm hoping to find things for him to do on base to keep him busy because I'm obviously not doing a good job at entertaining him here!
Easton continues to grow and grow! His new thing is shaking his head back and forth just for fun. The boys get a real kick out of that! They love to say "No!" to him and then he will shake his head back and forth. Its so cute! I keep trying to get a video, but he never does it when I have my phone out. His current interests are taking a bath, smiling at Korean's who smile at him, bottles of soap from the bath tub, and anything else he is not suppose to play with. He's a cutie :)
I have my moments of homesickness, but really overall I am feeling good about being here. Being in he hotel drives me batty, so we are really only here when Easton needs to nap during the day, but other than that I try to get out of the hotel. It does wonders for my spirit. :) It is cold here, but despite the weather, we walk just about everywhere on base. I don't mind the exercise, but the boys hate all the walking. As much as I try to convince them that they are building muscles, they just don't seem to buy it.
We know that the Lord has a plan for us here, and I'm excited to be here to fulfill that plan! If you feel so inclined, prayers to find a place to live would be greatly appreciated. :)
