4th of July

We had a lovely 4th of July.  My mom and I started off the morning by running a 10k in Cody, which was a really fun way to start the day! We then came home, got stuff ready for a picnic, and then headed to Yellowstone to eat our lunch.  My mom has always wanted to have a picnic in the park, so thats what we did! It was the perfect way to spend the afternoon.

We then headed to the lake and jumped rocks on the lake.  Its a tradition that we have done since I can remember, so it was fun to share that tradition with the boys.  We stayed there for over an hour and then went home.  Thats the beauty of living so close to Yellowstone; you don't feel like you have to stay all day.

That night, we watched the local fireworks, and the kids loved it! We ended up watching them from inside of the car since the bugs were so bad, but we had a great time nonetheless!

So Tired

My boys are not the type to fall asleep in random places, but every once in a while they surprise me and fall asleep at random times.  We were on our way out of town on the 4th, so we were all busy getting stuff ready to go.  Kayden couldn't wait for me to put him down for a nap, so he fell asleep watching cartoons.  Cutest thing ever.  I love how long his legs look in this picture.  He gets that from Greg not me :)

A Genius Invention

We ate dinner at a restaurant recently that had the following set up:

TV at every table! (With any channel you could want)

Genius!

The food was not really good at this place, but the environment was perfect for my little crew.  I think for that reason alone I would go back!

A few of our favorite people...

I love being able to be so close to my parents and siblings right now. The kids have gotten to know everyone so much better.  The boys talk about their uncles and aunts all the time, and just love it when we get to spend time with them.

My brother Kelly lives in Jackson, and he has a dog named Doc that the kids are obsessed with.  If you ask them what their dogs names are, they will say "Bella, Sadie, Hazel, and Doc."  Even though he doesn't live with us here, they include him in the list because they just love him so much.

We visited Kelly on our way home from a trip to Utah, and the boys had a great time playing with all the dogs; Kayden especially.  He just LOVES dogs!

I am very grateful for this time that our kids get to know my siblings and parents.  We are excited to visit Greg's parents in August as well, so the kids get to know them as well!

Kayden and Toby

I just love this picture <3

Bears!

There are statues of bears all over the Big Horn Basin in every community. It's kind of random, but my boys love to look for them while we are out and about. They love to climb all over them and dress them up. I'm not sure that is technically allowed but it keeps them entertained so it's a win-win for all of us!

Kayden and Mommy date

One afternoon I was going to Cody, and Deagan didn't want to go with me but Kayden did. I like to find ways to spend one on one time with each of them, so I was happy to spend the afternoon with just Kayden. (My mom was watching Deagan as a side note.)

We had a fun time together eating lunch at McDonalds, getting frozen yogurt and then going to Wal mart. And no afternoon outing is complete with our wearing your kids meal box over your head :)
My boys are brave with some things, and then not so much with other things. Like this statue of a buffalo. For some reason being on top of it was terrifying, but my dad was pretty set on getting them up there. It definitely makes for good pictures :)

Utah Valley Half Marathon

I am obviously behind on blogging since this is a month late, but on June 9th, I ran my 2nd half marathon and beat my previous time by 11 minutes! I ran it in 2 hrs the first time, and finished this one in 1:49:27. I was very pleased with that considering some set backs I have had this summer and then be ause I only got 2 hours of sleep the night before. I was so nervous I couldn't sleep! I also attribute that to crossfit that I have been doing all summer. I feel so much stronger than I have ever felt!
I had my eye on running a whole marathon in September but have had some set backs with some old injuries, so as of now I'm not sure if that is going to happen. I love running but running doesn't love me; at least long distance running.

My sister Chelsea ran the half with me and my mom ran her first 10k. Both of them did awesome! I am especially proud of my mom because of her hard work and dedication to her fitness. She is truly inspiring! She is proof that crossfit works too :)

The first picture is before the race and the 2nd is all of us with our medals. It was a tough race but we did it!!

Gymnastics

Deagan has been involved in several different activities this summer. We just finished gymnastics, and he loved it! He hadn't felt this way about all of the activities he has been in, so I'm glad we found something he likes!
