We enrolled Deagan in a preschool for this upcoming school year this morning.
I am really excited about it.
As we were talking with the director of the program, I found myself feeling that there was no way that my little Deagan was actually old enough to be in preschool. He will be 3 in September though. THREE!
I can't believe that.
It is a great school and I think he will thrive in it. He is so smart, and no I am not biased; he really is! They have a simple curriculum that helps prepare them for kindergarten.
Kindergarten?! When did he get old enough to start thinking about something like that???
My baby is growing up, and he has a great life ahead of him.

My boys
Kayden is talking a lot more, and here are a coupe pictures trying to capture that. In the first he is just screaming. I think he was mad that I was taking his pictures and not feeding him:)
Deagan's green shirt and his green bike.
He gets on random kicks where he likes a certain toy and that is the only toy he really wants to play with for a while. This day it was his green motorcycle. It was kind of fitting that on that same day he was wearing his green shirt.
Kayden has a lot more awake times now. Most of the time it is fun to have him awake more, but he has his moments of fussiness and crying and I kind of wish he would be sleeping instead:) Does that make me a bad mom?
Deagan is just the cutest thing ever still. He is a little boy now. He is totally not a baby. I love that he is growing up, and I love watching him learn and develop, but he is more challenging now for some reason to me. He is very independent and always wants his way. That is typical right for an almost 3 year old, but I am struggling with my patience.
It is hard to stay frustrated too long though when he pulls faces like these:
There is a cute story behind this picture:
Whenever Deagan is doing something he shouldn't be, I ask him to please by a nice boy and to show me from now on how he can be a nice boy. Out of nowhere one day he was crying because he was getting in trouble for something he did, and I asked him to show me how he could be a nice boy and he raised his arms in the air. Now every time I ask him to be a nice boy he raises his arms. I have no idea where he got that from, but it is really cute and helps me to smile at a time when I am really frustrated.
Right before this I asked him to show me how he is a nice boy, and he turned to me and pulled that face. Every time I look at it I laugh:)

Potty Talk
The answer would be no to both.
I know he is smart enough to know how to do it, but he just doesn't want to. In fact, sometimes he REFUSES to sit on the potty, even if we tell him he will get a marshmallow for doing so. (If he turns down something as wonderful as a marshmallow you know he is serious.)
I know he knows when he has to go, and that he very easily could go potty, but that doesn't really seem to matter.
This morning we went to the library for story time, and afterwards Deagan was playing with a box of animals that the story-time lady pulled out for the kids. I was sitting back watching Deagan play with the other kids, and over heard him talking to himself. He was saying, "Stay in poopy! Stay in!"
I asked him if he had to go poopy, and he responded that he did but he wanted it to stay in. And stay in it did!
If he has the control to hold it in like that, he has got to be ready for potty training, but I just don't know how to convince him of that same thing.
People say that the summer time is the best time to potty train since you can let your kids run around with no pants on, so we will see if summer time is our lucky time as well.

Growing like a weed!
We had a WIC appointment this afternoon to add Kayden to the program. Kayden was weighed and he now weighs 9 lbs 3 oz! So from the time he came home from the hospital he has gained 3 lbs! He LOVES to eat pretty much all the time, so I was happy to see he is gaining weight.
Deagan was always on the small side (like under the 10th percentile on everything) and Kayden is in the 50th for both weight and height. We will have to see if he follows after his brother as he gets older.
He is growing too fast though! Time, please slow down!

This kid cracks me up!
As I was getting ready today, I had Kayden in a vibrating chair thing by the bathroom which happens to be by Deagan's room. I got distracted at one point in this process and all of a sudden I hear a crash and then Kayden starts to cry. I look over at him and our hallway mirror had fallen down next to him and there were a bunch of Deagan's bouncy balls laying there as well. Deagan immediately says "Sorry mommy. Sorry mommy." over and over. My first reaction was to get bad and to punish him because that is my natural tendency but I have been trying really hard to get over that and to not react all the time. So I decided to let him explain to me what had happened as I was comforting Kayden. Deagan starts telling me that he was bouncy his balls and one hit the mirror and it fell. It did not hit Kayden but just scared him. I was happy I didn't react right away because really Deagan didn't do anything wrong, he was just playing. For 20 minutes after this incident Deagan kept telling me the story of what had happened and slowly the story started to lose its validity. At one point a dragon had come into his room and bounced off the wall and then a little bit later the dragon ate Kayden's stomach. Other animals made their way into the story as well and they all did their kind of crazy thing. He told me all of this in complete seriousness so I treated it the same.
I am not really sure what really happened during the incident, and I don't think I ever will because I have a feeling some kind of dragon or other animal will be the one to blame.
He really has a great imagination and it is a lot of fun to hear how his mind works.

Way behind but still here!
I have not posted anything for a while, so here are a few of my favorite pictures from the past couple of weeks. Life is crazy right now, but I am very blessed. Just look as these two kids; they are evidence to me that my Heavenly Father loves me or else why would I been entrusted with such beautiful children. They are truly the greatest things that have ever happened to me; besides marrying Greg:)
