We must be crazy!

My twin sister and I have wanted to run a half-marathon for quite some time now. After Greg and I started dating, he got in on this to, so we have decided that we are going to be running the Teton Dam Half Marathon this summer. More specifically, it is on June 14. We have all been training for over a month now. I am beginning to think that we must be crazy though. Greg and I ran about 7 miles this morning, and I am SO tired! It was a pretty hard run though in my defense. There were hills after hills. The thought of running another 6 miles is just so unfathonable to me right now. (Is unfathonable a word?) Either way, wish us luck because I am beginning to think that we just might need it!

What an eater!

As of recently, Deagan has really started to like eating his baby food. We have had him on solids for a while now, but after he got over being sick, he can't eat enough. His new favorite food are bananas right now, and also sweet potatoes. Sometimes when I feed him some of his food, I can't imagine it tasting too good, but he always clears the bowl! It might not all end up in his stomach, as you can tell from the pictures, but he sure loves to eat.

All he wants to do is dance!

Deagan's all time favorite thing to do right now is to stand, using our fingers. Today, he kind of started this "game" with me where I would hold out my fingers for him to hold on to. He would grab them, pull himself up, let go, stand by himself for a second, and then he would fall on his bum and laugh. He did this over and over again. He thought it was the coolest thing ever. I didn't get a video of that, but I did get one of him dancing with dad. He loves to dance!

You have gotta try this!

My sister told me about this pretty incredible site called "Pandora." It is a site where you create your own radio stations, and they let you play music for free. The only thing about is that you can't download or buy the music. It is pretty cool though for when you are around the house. I have created a ton of stations depending on the mood that I am in at the current time. I love to have background noice, and I am so tired of having the TV on, so this has become my current obsession. You have got to try it! Log on to www.pandora.com, and you will see what I mean!

It's about time!

I have been really bad about posting lately due to a lot of reasons, but I figured that it is about time that I catch up before I end up posting a huge post of pictures and boring rants.

Since we got back from Park City, we have been pretty busy. Trying to get settled, rearranging to give Deagan his own room, cleaning, taking care of a sick baby, and starting school really do take up a lot of time! Back to the first thing of getting settled and giving Deagan his own room; Deagan is now in our second bedroom. I think that the transition was harder on me. Deagan didn't even see to notice. I found myself constantly getting out of bed in the middle of the night to make sure that he was breathing. It is so nice having our room to ourselves again. We will just have to enjoy it as much as we can before another little one comes along. (I am not hinting at anything either. I am not pregnant!) We got rid of a lot of stuff as well, which has really made our apartment feel so much more inviting. I love the feeling that comes with rearranging furniture and deep cleaning. That is one of my favorite things!

Deagan has also been really sick lately. For the longest time we thought that he must be teething, but Sunday he got a really high fever and Monday he was extremely sick. I took him to the doctor on Monday, and he said that he had a virus called coxicoli (if that is how you spell it). It is basically blisters in the throat. I felt so bad for Deagan. The doctor showed me them when he was trying to find out what was wrong with them, and they looked so painful. No wonder he was so sick! The doctor said that he would be sick like he was for about 3 days before we saw any improvement, but this morning he woke up fever free. We give credit to the blessing that Greg gave him yesterday. I am very grateful for Greg and for the priesthood that he holds. It is a powerful thing, and I know that that helped Deagan get better faster. Deagan had a pretty good day today, but we kept him in for at least one more day because the doctor said that the virus is really contagious. Apparently, adults can't get the virus. It makes me wonder where he got it because he isn't around other kids that much. I just hope that we don't make some other kid sick in our ward. If he has, I AM SO SORRY!

Deagan is doing something new everyday. He is getting closer and closer to crawling. He has mastered pushing himself backwards, but just not forwards. He will get it. His favorite thing right now is to pull himself up using our fingers. He is getting so strong. What a little cutie he is!

Greg and I are both in school this semester, and I think that it will be a pretty crazy semester. We are excited for the challenge, and we are just so happy to be back in Rexburg! We hope that everyone else is doing well!

His little smile just melts me.

My family was in town one weekend to celebrate my dad's birthday and for a family wedding. It was SO fun to have them here with us. I love my family so much. They are a huge support to us. Deagan is still a little hesitant to let just anyone hold him. I think that he is experiencing a little stranger anxiety, but I know that the more we are with my family the more comfortable he will be around them. The picture above is of him posing as everyone else took pictures of him. He make a great model!

I know it looks cruel, but we put Deagan in a box to see what he would think and he liked it! He loved that he could pull himself up in it!

We also tried to laundry basket, and this was even funner to him to pull himself up in! He is getting to good at doing this!

My mom gives Deagan kisses and leaves a lipstick mark behind. It might be kind of hard to tell, but he has a lipstick mark on his forehead. He is showing off how much his grandma loves him!

Picture Update

What a wonderful General Conference we had this weekend! What an amazing experience it was to witness and be a part of a solemn assembly and to sustain President Monson as our new Prophet. As I listened to him speak in the final session of conference, I felt the spirit testify that he is called of God. What a sweet experience that was. Elder Ballard also gave a great talk on motherhood that gave me, and I am sure every other mother in the world, a feeling of strength that I can do what is expected of me. I feel so blessed to be a part of such a magnificent gospel!

Now for an update:

We are now home from Park City; hopefully home for good this time. We had a great time visiting with Greg's family and enjoying the time the we had together. The time flew by a little too fast, but it is nice to get back and to hopefully start a routine for all of us. We were able to do a lot, but I still felt that I was not able to do all that I wanted. There are so many people that I was hoping to see while we were there, and I feel bad that we were not able to see everyone. Hopefully soon we will be able to see our friends and family soon!

At the place where we stayed, they had a "fun center" for the kids to play in. One afternoon we all went down with the kids to play. Deagan really loved this toy. I had to pry his fingers from it when it was time to go.

One evening, some of our friends came to visit since they lived in the area. They have the cutest little girl a little older then Deagan. Deagan seemed to really like her. They even were playing together. It was a great time to practice sharing.

It was so cute because they kept taking things from each other and playing with it and then the other would take it back.

Deagan gets fascinated by really random things sometimes. This stool is one of those things that he was very enthralled with. He would sit at the base and try his hardest to pull himself up. He wasn't able to go all the way up by himself, so had to help him. He is getting pretty good at standing!

We bought Deagan his first swim suit, and this is when Daddy and him were about to go take a dip.

My niece Belen really loves cameras, so we were taking pictures together for a long time.

The doctor told us that he has a big head, but I think that he still has a way to go before he fits into this hat.

I had the wonderful chance to visit with one of my dearest friends, Dawn, from home. I hadn't seen her since she was married 9 months ago, so she hadn't met Deagan yet. It was so fun to get together and talk while the guys went to the Priesthood session. Dawn is such a wonderful friend! I remember that when we first met when we were 5 or so that I wanted to be her friend so bad because she seemed like such a cool person. I am grateful for her and for her friendship!

We were trying to figure out how to use to timers on our cameras, and Deagan was our model as we figured it out. He loved all the attention!

He LOVED swimming! It was like a giant bath. The pool was heated, so it was nice to swim in for him!

It is kind of hard to tell in this picture but his hair is spiked in the middle. Everyone tells us, "Oh he is so bald." This is proving to everyone who has said that that he is not bald. He just has really blonde hair. Again, he is sitting by his favorite stool.

We really are home!

We really are back from Seattle even though it may not seem like it. It has been kind of crazy for the past couple of weeks. We left Seattle on Friday night right after Greg's last day at the Passport Agency. The state of Washington was slammed with a snow storm that same day, so it took us 7 hours to get from Seattle and Spokane. That drive would normally take about 4. We were hoping to make it to Missoula that night and stay the night, but we only made it to Spokane. I drove for a little bit when the roads were good, but I saw two car wrecks within a mile of each other. Needless to say I did not drive after that. Saturday morning the roads weren't much better, but we were so anxious to get back that we got up early and took off. After another 8 hours of driving we made it to Rexburg! I can't even describe the feeling that I had as we pulled up to Rexburg. It seemed surreal that we were finally home. As I think back on the time that we were in Seattle, it almost seems like a dream now.

We came home when we did so we could be back in time for our niece's baby blessing, so that Sunday we attended the blessing and had a good day with family. It was so nice to be back with family. Our nieces and nephew grew so much! It was also so fun to see our brand new niece Ada. She is so beautiful! Monday we had some things that we had to get done, one of which was getting Deagan in for his 6 month check-up, even though he is almost 7 months now. We waited to get him in until we got back. He is now 27 inches long and 16 lbs 12 oz. The Dr. said that his weight was a little low, which made me really nervous, but not to worry because his brain development is perfectly normal, which is all that really matters. He is in the 90th percentile for his head size thanks to the strong Ursenbach genes on my side of the family. You gotta love it!

We left to Park City, Utah Monday night to spend the rest of the week with Greg's family at a time share that they have there. It was a very long day and a very late night, so it has been so nice to have this time to relax a little bit with family. It hasn't been all relaxing though. On Tuesday we gave Deagan a bottle of formula, which is what the Dr. suggested we do to see if his weight goes up. Bad idea! I am convinced now that he is lactose intolerant because about 2 hours after he had his bottle he got EXTREMELY sick. I was off with the girls to get a pedicure and manicure and Greg was watching him while he got sick the first time. When they picked us up, Deagan looked miserable. They were at Costco when he got sick, so he was covered in his throw up. Some people might know this about me, but I do NOT do well with vomit, AT ALL. That might actually be putting it lightly. I have a phobia with it I think. So I was in the back seat with Deagan as he continues to get sick and I was freaking out. I definitely did not feel like mother of the year at this moment. After he got all of the formula out of his system he seemed a lot better. It wasn't until the next morning that he was his full self again though. We will just have to figure something else out to get him to gain some weight, but I don't think we will try the formula again.

We will be home on Sunday night, and then life will get crazy again. I am excited to get back so we can get back into a routine again. I am so grateful for family and for this time that we have with them. I just hope that we will find some time soon to spend with my family as well.
It is sad to think that when we get back a lot of our friends from Rexburg will have left or will be moving soon. We love our ward and are so grateful for the friendships that we have made.
