Home Depot Workshop
On the first Saturday of the month, Home Depot holds a kids workshop. Yesterday, the kids built cars there and then got to race them when they were done.
Tender Mercy Moments
Being a mom is hard, so I am grateful for the tender mercy moments that come a long the way.
Here are a few of my favorites from the past couple of weeks:
Kayden fell asleep wearing a Spider-Man mask. (Don't worry, I took it off right after I took this.)
It was warm enough to play outside over the weekend, and Deagan took advantage of the weather to practice his mountain climbing skills.
Snow and more snow!
We have had an unusually snowy winter this year, so we have had a lot of snow days. It's been good to have Deagan home more, but the school district has used all of their built in snow days. Which means that now they have to go to school on a few holidays. Kind of a bummer!
The boys have loved all the snow. It's been really cold on top of all the snow, so I think the kids are enjoying it more than me :)
Trying to get a picture of the kids playing in the snow.
MLK Day 2014
Deagan learned a lot about Martin Luther King at school this year, so we decided to go visit the memorial this year on MLK day. I love how close we live to the city when we can do things like this.
It was an unusually warm day that day, so it was fun to walk around and see a few memorials while we were down town. We thought we would have a hard time finding parking close to the memorials, so ended up parking really far from everything. In the end, I think we walked at least 5 miles that day. It was a good day to walk though!
The MLK monument!
Roller Skating Party
A couple of weeks ago, the boys were invited to a roller skating birthday party. They had a great time learning how to skate. Deagan was the more adventurous one and went out on his own a lot, while Kayden stayed as close to the wall as possible.
Deagan was really sweet to help Kayden when he could.
Michael Jackson hat
For a couple of weeks, the boys went through a Michael Jackson phase. Totally random, but they wanted to listen to his music all the time and dressed up as him a lot. My mom bought the kids this cute hat while she was visiting because they claimed it was a Michael Jackson hat. :)
My mom comes to visit
My mom came to visit towards the beginning of January. It's always so fun to have her. Unfortunately, I didn't take as many pictures as I should have. I just don't think about taking pictures as well as I should.
We had a lot of fun exploring the area together and just being together. Whenever my mom comes, we always try new recipes, so we are lots of good food too.
Here are a few highlights of what we did while she was here:
-We went to the National Harbor a couple of times, and that has become my new favorite place to go. I love the ocean, and I love how the harbor over looks the Potomac. It was warm enough the first time we went, so we were able to explore outside. I'm looking forward to when it warms up to go explore thee some more. Here are a few cute pictures we got while we were there:
Proof that we were there too!
-There is another Air and Space museum by the Dulles airport that we went to. It's so much bigger than the one down town, so it felt a lot less crowded. The boys loved seeing all the planes and space ships. There is a lot of great history there! We went to a great local Chinese place afterwards to eat, so it was just a great day together.
I am so grateful to my mom for taking time to visit us. I love having family come and see where we live. It's kind of crazy to think that the next time we see my mom will be when the baby is born!
