Babymoon

With baby #3 almost here (2 weeks!) Greg and I decided we wanted to do a short over night trip before we are back into never being able to leave the house again. (Obviously I am exaggerating, but you get the idea :)) We are at kind of fun stage with our boys right now where we can easily leave them over night without worrying too much.  It also helps that my sister Ashley lives with us! We were so grateful that she offered to watch them for us.

We decided to stay at National Harbor which is just before the Memorial bridge in Maryland.  We really love this place, so it was a great location.  It was so nice to spend some time just the two of us before this baby comes.

We took a morning walk/jog up to the bridge.  I love this bridge and the view you get of Virginia.

Proof that we were both there!

Kayden turns 4!

Our sweet little Kayden turned 4 on March 18th.  I really can't believe he is 4.  I feel like I just had him, but now he is acting so grown up!

I tried to devote the whole day to doing whatever he wanted, but he was fighting a bit of a tummy bug so we ended up laying low at home for most of the day.  I think he had a good day despite that.

We are so blessed to have Kayden in our life!

Opening presents!

His favorite toy by far! (From Grandma Akin)

A friend of ours made this cake for him.  He loves Ironman!

A few fun things about Kayden:

-He loves Power Rangers, Rescue Bots, and anything on Nick Jr.  This kid loves his TV, so he is on a daily limit :)
-He use to be our great eater, but has reverted a bit.  He still is more adventurous than Deagan, but dinner time is always a bit of a battle with him.
-He has developed a tree nut allergy recently, and while that is not necessarily fun, he is really good about being careful when trying new snacks.  He always asks if there is tree nuts in what he is eating.  I am kind of surprised how aware he is of his allergy.
-He is so sweet and compassionate about other people.  When I had my glucose test with baby #3, I was talking about how I was not looking forward to drinking a yucky drink.  A few hours after I got home from my doctor appointment, he stopped me and asked, "How was your appointed by the way mom?"
A couple of months ago, Greg hurt his tail bone pretty bad snowboarding, and Kayden always asked him how his bum was feeling. :) I love how are of others he is.
-He is a sunbeam in church as of this year, and he is the cutest little sunbeam.  I'm lucky to serve in Jr Primary, so I get to be with both boys on Sunday, and I love watching him there.  He tries so hard to sing and to participate.
-He is my shadow.  He literally follows me everywhere all day.  I really don't mind at all, but I just feel bad he is always kind of nervous to be on his own.  He really does make a great little side-kick.  I honestly do not dread shopping with him because is always so good when we go out.
-He absolutely adores his brother Deagan.  He copies everything that Deagan does, which annoys Deagan obviously, but I think it is sweet how much Kayden looks up to him.
-He hates getting water in his eyes.  Bath times are always fun as you can imagine :)

There are probably a million other things I could say about him, but for now I will leave it at that.

I feel so blessed to be Kayden's mom!

Spring Days

This winter has been a pretty traditional Wyoming winter in Maryland; meaning cold, snowy, and drawn out. I remember last year having some beautiful spring feeling days intermixed with winter, but those days have been few and far between this year. The past few weeks though there have been signs that spring may actually come! Whenever we have those days, I make sure we spend as little time inside as possible. It's heavenly after being cooped up for the past 5 months.

On this particular day this picture was taken, Kayden and I sat on the back deck and just enjoyed the sun and company. I can't wait until this is a daily occurrence. Spring, we are ready for you!!

Baltimore Aquarium

We have heard about how great the Baltimore Aquarium is since we moved here, but have never gone because it is crazy expensive. We found out about a deal where you could on Fridays after 5, and admission costs was basically cut in half. A few weeks ago, we decided to take advantage of the discount, and I'm so glad we did! It is an incredible place!

The day we decided to go was bitter cold though, and we ended up having to wait outside to get our tickets for a good 30 minutes. We were all freezing and could not wait to get inside.

The boys absolutely loved this place. Deagan is fascinated by sharks, so he was in heaven. He brought a lot the Kid's LeapPad that has a camera on it, and he ran around taking pictures all night. Most of the pictures were blurry, but it was so cute to see him so excited.

I don't know if we will go back since it's quite a drive to get there and costs a yon; even on a discount, but I'm so glad we went at least once while we live here!

This was basically how their faces looked the whole time :).

Giant megladon mouth! This is Deagan's favorite shark of all time.

Skewed Perspective

It's been really cold lately, like below zero cold which is really unusual for the area. It was in the 40's yesterday, so it only made sense that we wash our cars right with snow still on the ground? :)

Home Depot Workshop

On the first Saturday of the month, Home Depot holds a kids workshop. Yesterday, the kids built cars there and then got to race them when they were done.

I love free things like this!

Tender Mercy Moments

Being a mom is hard, so I am grateful for the tender mercy moments that come a long the way.

Here are a few of my favorites from the past couple of weeks:

Kayden fell asleep wearing a Spider-Man mask. (Don't worry, I took it off right after I took this.)

From time to time, Kayden grabs Deagan's glasses and tells me he is Deagan. What a cute kid!

It was warm enough to play outside over the weekend, and Deagan took advantage of the weather to practice his mountain climbing skills.
