A Better Perspective and MORE Snow; Really?

Thanks to all you wonderful people out there who read my pathetic post and offered some really great advice.  I really appreciate all your kind words.  You are all the best!

I have to back up and and apologize for even writing that post.  I wrote it as Kayden was upstairs in his room crying.  Probably not the best to write what I am really feeling right in the middle of the situation.  Next time I will try to filter a little better:)

Yesterday morning did not go well because I let the situation get me down, and I couldn't get out of the funk I was in.  We went to church and of course that helped.  I felt 100x better after feeling the spirit.  I also gained a lot of perspective.  I realized that I was letting Kayden's sleep issues determine my happiness.  It is interested because I was talking to my mom last night, and she had the thought to share that same counsel with me.  We were both on the same wave length, and I don't count that as coincidence.  I know that is what Heavenly Father wanted me to hear.

I have been so preoccupied with Kayden and his sleep issues that I am afraid that I am not taking the time to enjoy this sweet little boy.  He is almost ONE!!! That is so crazy to me.  How did my sweet little baby grow up so fast?  I am still going to work on his sleep stuff, but I don't want it to cloud this precious time that we are in.

I have so many things to be grateful for; my little family being one of my greatest blessings. I know that I will have to work every single day at trying to keep this perspective, so pray for me ok?

On another note, we were hit with a massive snow storm last night.  Just when we thought the snow was over it comes back with a vengeance.  They have closed all the local schools and the daycare I work at is closed.  This would be great expect that we are suppose to be driving to DC this afternoon.  Hopefully the roads clear up so we can get out of here!

Greg was offered a PAID internship, and has to go down to DC to go through pre-employment stuff.  We are just tagging a long for the ride:)

This has been a hard winter it seems for the country, and I am sure I am not alone when I say I can't wait for Spring and for the snow to stop.  I guess that groundhog was wrong this year because spring has not come as quickly as he predicted.

Trying to Stay Calm

I am not a patient person by nature, and being a parent has tests this weaknesses of mine on a daily basis, multiple times a day.  I am getting better, but I have a long ways to go.

I have talked about this a lot lately, but we are really struggling with the sleep department in our house.  Every day it gets worse, and my patience gets thinner.  I don't know what I am doing wrong and how to fix this.  I feel like I have tried everything, but nothing is working.  Something has got to be up, but I just don't know what it is.

It is depressing waking up knowing I am going to fight with him over naps all day, and that he will be overly tired and cranky all day long because he won't nap.  And because he is overly tired, he won't sleep well at night and will want to nurse all night. It is a cycle we repeat everyday, and it is really wearing on me.

I am not an advocate of just letting kids cry themselves to sleep, but lately I feel like I will do anything.

I am trying to stay calm but it is not easy for me.  What am I doing wrong??????

Overcoming Fears

Some of you may know that I have a very silly but real fear of open water.  In fact, it is pretty pathetic just how scared I am on it.  It is embarrassing, but true.

I have another blog, where I write about my passion for all things fitness and nutrition, and I posted on there that I have a goal to do a sprint triathlon.  The biking and running part of that I have no problem with, but it is the swimming part that terrifies me.  Our local gym has a training program set up, and I went to a swim clinic tonight.  I was in a level that was way too advanced me for, and I felt very embarrassed and insecure surrounded by other people who were MUCH more advanced than me, but despite that I found out that I am not half as bad as I thought.  I am going to try another level so I am with people who are more at my level, but I really want to do this.  I want to get better!

I know that swimming in a pool is TOTALLY different than swimming in a lake, but this is a first step in the right direction right? I really just want to get over this silly fear of mine!

Days like this are the best!

Today was such a good day! Saturdays can be stressful for me because I try to get too many things done before Sunday, but today was just fun.  We didn't do anything extra special or different, but I got to be with my family.  Life can be so crazy, so it is nice to be able to spend time with the people you love don't you think?!
I looked at my boys today and they both seemed to have doubled in age overnight.  They are both growing up so fast and developing their own unique personalities.  They are so fun.

Cool sunglasses dude!

Saturday Morning

I got a little picture happy this morning, and I think we got a lot of cute pictures of the boys.

Enjoy!

Funny facial expression

Perfect smile!

Telling me the names of all the cars he is holding

He stole one of Deagan's cars and seems quite content with it

Trying to put on the 3D classes

Almost!

He came pretty close don't you think?

Perfectly in a line...

Happily playing on his activity table
 I love this next sequence...
Kayden goes in to take a car...

He gets it! But Deagan is not happy...

Deagan grabs the car from Kayden...

And warns Kayden to never take it again

Lunging for it!

Kayden goes in to grab it, but Deagan protects the car!

Almost got it!

Now they are playing together

How cute is that?:)

As of late..

I feel like a broke record, but we are struggling with Kadyen and his sleep again.  It seems that our boys are exactly alike in this area, and that seriously makes me sick to my stomach because we struggled so much with Deagan.  I don't know if I can handle this again, but I will have to.  I don't know what to do.

There has to be some explanation to why we are struggling so much right now; teething maybe? I took him to the Dr last week to check out a possible ear infection, and there is nothing like that wrong.  But he is just not sleeping well!

I feel defeated.

Despite that, I wanted to post some pictures of our boys to remind me of how blessed I am despite how challenging things feel right now.  It seems like good therapy.

New haircut! Doesn't he look so much older!

Blue eyed boy! I think he was just getting over being sick in this picture, so he looks really pale.  But maybe he is always that color? Our boys have fair skin like their momma!

Playing together on a Sunday afternoon.  I love how they are starting to play together!

Neither one of them are willing to let the other on the car.

Cheese!

Caught him mid blink.  Still a cute picture!

Look at that smile. He is up to something!
These next few pictures are so cute to me.  He looks so chunky! I just love his smile!

He stole Deagan's smoothie straw! He is getting so good at drinking from a straw.

Just too darn cute to stay upset at!
