Things just seem better when its sunny outside!

I know I sounded a little dramatic in my last post, and I didn't want people to feel sorry for me. It was just one of those moments when parenthood was harder than I had ever though it would be. But as the title of my post says, things just seem better when its sunny outside. Especially since the sun has been hiding since we got here. The past few days have been absolutely gorgeous. I had to capture a few pictures os this weather for those days when it is cloudy and grey outside and I fear that the sun will never shine again.

This was taken at the Locks in Ballard, about 20 minutes from where we live. I wanted to take some more pictures but my camera died right after I took this picture. I never knew that this place existed, but it was pretty cool.

These are pictures from my beloved Greenlake Park. This is the view from where I usually start walking.

It might be kind of hard to tell but there is an island in the middle of the lake, and sadly I never knew it was there until my aunt was with me a few days ago. It made me realize that sometimes I just need to stop and observe the beautiful things that God has created for us to enjoy.

There are always ducks swimming through the lake, but this the first time that I ever saw them sun bathing. I think that they were enjoying the day as well.

This is killing me!

Before we left for Seattle, Deagan was so good about falling asleep on his own in his crib. For the past month though, he won't fall asleep unless he is in my arms. I decided that today is the day that I get him back on his old habit. I have never felt like such a bad mother as I do now, but I know that this is something that he needs to do. I have never heard him cry so hard before. I will go in and comfort him and tell him that I love him, but as soon as I leave he starts all over again. Does anyone else have any ideas on how to make this transition easier for him and for me?

Sick day at the Zoo

Yesterday morning Greg woke up sick, so he stayed home from work. Later that day he started feeling better, so we decided to go to the Zoo that is just down the road from where we live. It was a fun day to spend a sick day! I think that Greg and I had more fun than Deagan did!

It's kind of hard to tell from this picture, but there are three hippos in this picture. It was kind of a chilly day, so I think they liked being in the water rather than on the wet cold mud.

Deagan all bundled up at the Zoo. He fell asleep half way through. I think we enjoyed it more then he did.

It was crazy because the gorillas had so many human like characteristics. They were pretty interesting to watch!

It was pretty crazy seeing a huge elephant in the middle of Seattle.

Naked Boy!

Deagan loves to be naked. I think so much that he purposely plans out his messy diapers to be so bad that we have to take him down to his nothings. I thought these pictures were too cute.

Deagan learns to play the guitar!

Deagan is quite the daddy's boy. He loves to spend time with Greg whenever he can. One night when Greg was playing his guitar, Deagan decided it was time that he learned to play. He is quite the natural don't you think.

Greenlake Park

As I mentioned earlier, life in Seattle is very different, but I am really beginning to enjoy this adventure. After getting lost almost every day, I am beginning to find my way around the area. We live pretty far north of downtown Seattle, but there have been a few times that I have ended up all the way downtown with out even meaning to. Every day is an adventure! There is one place that I have become very comfortable though: Greenlake Park. It is a beautiful park, and I love walking around the lake when its not raining.

Life in Seattle

I am finally in Seattle now, and I can already tell that this is going to be an adjustment. Seatlle is COMPLETELY different than anything that I am use to. Going from Rexburg to Seattle is kind of a shock. Having only lived in Wyoming and then Idaho, I am not use to the traffic, people, and weather. Greg came to Ephrata on Friday night, and then we drove to Seattle the next morning after President Hinckley's funeral. The weather in Washington has been pretty bad lately, and we weren't sure that we were going to be able to get Solqualmie pass. I know that we were blessed because that afternoon it was opened, and that night it closed again because of Avalanche danger.
This week I have been trying to get settled into our new apartment, which is ironiclly called "The Michelle." It was meant to be I guess. It is SO much different than UV though. The halls smell like cigarette smoke, and the people here are not your usual Rexburg folks. I made a goal to myself that I had to get out of the apartment at least once a day, and so far I have done that. That makes it so much easier with Greg gone all day at his internship. I found the cutest park a few blocks from our apartment which is a great place for walking. There is also a Target pretty close, and I figured out how to get to the Target, Safeway, and Sam's Club, so I have my essentials covered.
I am looking forward to being back in Rexburg, but I am excited for this time that we are in Seattle. It is hard being so far from family and friends, so I am so glad that I have Deagan with me because I don't think if I could do this without him.

Happy Deagan!

He loves grabbing anything that I am holding, so I let him hold the bottle after I was done with it and he sucked on the lid for a long time. He is beginning to understand how to drink out of a water bottle.

This is the park that I walk around. It is so pretty. There is a walking path that goes around the whole lake.
