Easter 2014

I forget to mention in my last post, the Cody and my dad were in town over Easter weekend, so we were blessed to spend it with them. The boys woke up before everyone else, so they hunted before the rest of the family woke up. I love how excited they get about holiday! Greg pulled out our "real" camera and took some great pictures!

My dad and brother Cody came to visit us last week, and it was such a wonderful visit! I am so grateful for my family for the sacrifice they make to visit us. It means so much to us!

My dad has been out here before and was not interested in sight seeing, so I put them to work! Well I asked nicely if they would help with some yard work, and they went above and beyond the call of duty. All day Friday and Monday of their visit, they helped me clean up my mulch beds and lay new mulch. I had originally planned on doing that all myself, but after seeing how much work it was, I am SO glad they offered to help! It was so fun to work together. We were able to work and laugh together and make some great memories.

On Saturday of their visit, we went to the temple together, and it was such a neat experience. I loved being in the temple with my family. It was also a gorgeous spring day, so it was nice to hang around the temple grounds for a bit to take pictures.

My little family of 4! (Almost 5!)

I wanted to write down a few memories from the trip so I don't forget:

-Deagan stayed up until Cody and Dad got here, which ended up being almost 11. Kayden didn't quite make it, but Deagan was just too excited to sleep!
-My dad and Cody made sure to terrorize the boys while they were here. I don't think they realized how gullible the boys were, and kept teasing them about things like "straw police" and "wolf-men." The boys still ask me about those things.
-Cody had a game on his phone that I have on mine, so Deagan instantly became obsessed with it because Cody played it. Deagan worships the ground Cody walks on. It was so funny to hear Deagan talking about the game; all.the.time.
-Deagan just loved having family here, and when we dropped Cody and Dad off at the airport, he broke down in tears, which made ME break down in tears. It was so sad. It is so hard to live so far from family some times, but it also make the time that we have together so wonderful.

Cherry Blossoms

We have always missed seeing the Cherry Blossoms downtown, but finally made it there this year! It was a total last minute trip, but it was so fun! I love that we live close enough to the city where we can make last minute plans to go downtown.

So blessed

I've mentioned before that my twin sister, Ashley, is living with us right now. It has been such a blessing to us to have her here. She is so great with the boys, and has saved me so many times with them. Greg is gone on Tuesday nights for YM, and there have been many times when she has come home from work to see me freaking out about something. She always offers to read to the boys or to help in anyway she can, and it so helpful! I feel so blessed to have her here with us.

I know this can't last forever, so I am just enjoying while I can. I love finally having family close by!

First Love Note

Deagan is a bit of a ladies man at school it seems. He is always talking about girls that like him. It starts a little too young I think. :)

He got this cute note home a few weeks ago from one of the girls in his class. I thought it was so cute!

Babymoon

With baby #3 almost here (2 weeks!) Greg and I decided we wanted to do a short over night trip before we are back into never being able to leave the house again. (Obviously I am exaggerating, but you get the idea :)) We are at kind of fun stage with our boys right now where we can easily leave them over night without worrying too much. It also helps that my sister Ashley lives with us! We were so grateful that she offered to watch them for us.

We decided to stay at National Harbor which is just before the Memorial bridge in Maryland. We really love this place, so it was a great location. It was so nice to spend some time just the two of us before this baby comes.

We took a morning walk/jog up to the bridge. I love this bridge and the view you get of Virginia.

Kayden turns 4!

Our sweet little Kayden turned 4 on March 18th. I really can't believe he is 4. I feel like I just had him, but now he is acting so grown up!

I tried to devote the whole day to doing whatever he wanted, but he was fighting a bit of a tummy bug so we ended up laying low at home for most of the day. I think he had a good day despite that.

We are so blessed to have Kayden in our life!

A few fun things about Kayden:

-He loves Power Rangers, Rescue Bots, and anything on Nick Jr. This kid loves his TV, so he is on a daily limit :)

-He use to be our great eater, but has reverted a bit. He still is more adventurous than Deagan, but dinner time is always a bit of a battle with him.

-He has developed a tree nut allergy recently, and while that is not necessarily fun, he is really good about being careful when trying new snacks. He always asks if there is tree nuts in what he is eating. I am kind of surprised how aware he is of his allergy.

-He is so sweet and compassionate about other people. When I had my glucose test with baby #3, I was talking about how I was not looking forward to drinking a yucky drink. A few hours after I got home from my doctor appointment, he stopped me and asked, "How was your appointed by the way mom?"

A couple of months ago, Greg hurt his tail bone pretty bad snowboarding, and Kayden always asked him how his bum was feeling. :) I love how are of others he is.

-He is a sunbeam in church as of this year, and he is the cutest little sunbeam. I'm lucky to serve in Jr Primary, so I get to be with both boys on Sunday, and I love watching him there. He tries so hard to sing and to participate.

-He is my shadow. He literally follows me everywhere all day. I really don't mind at all, but I just feel bad he is always kind of nervous to be on his own. He really does make a great little side-kick. I honestly do not dread shopping with him because is always so good when we go out.

-He absolutely adores his brother Deagan. He copies everything that Deagan does, which annoys Deagan obviously, but I think it is sweet how much Kayden looks up to him.

-He hates getting water in his eyes. Bath times are always fun as you can imagine :)

There are probably a million other things I could say about him, but for now I will leave it at that.

I feel so blessed to be Kayden's mom!

I was tired this afternoon, and I needed to nurse Kayden. I felt too tired to go pick up Kayden from where he was, so jokingly I asked Deagan if he would go change Kayden's diaper, nurse him, and then put him down for a nap.

He took it seriously, and said, "I have little boobies mommy! But do I have milk?"

Me: "No you don't have milk. I was just kidding."

Deagan: "But do I have water in my boobies?"

Needless to say, he did not follow through with what I said:)

January 6, 2009

*We went to Olive Garden for dinner tonight, and after the waitress brought us our breadsticks my son yelled after her, "Thank you lady!"

*My oldest loves to bring toys with him to bed. Tonight he had a couple of toy dinosaurs that he got for Christmas. The rule we have of bringing toys in bed is that the toys can't play, they have to sleep too. Tonight, he was having a hard time just letting his toys sleep, so I kept asking him to stop playing with the dinosaurs so he could go to sleep. He was getting really frustrated at me because of this and towards the end he started saying, "I am very mad at you!" It was so hard for me not to laugh at that.

He has done this for a while now, but whenever we are in the car he will ask, "Where are we going?" in a annoyed kind of voice. Later on he will ask really sadly, "Where did my house go?"

October 29, 2009

My oldest woke up really early this morning, and was whiny and impossible to please. At this point, I am dreading the day ahead and it is only 7 a.m. My oldest was sitting on his play table coloring and playing with his paint box (that was empty). He dropped the paint box, and began whining for me to pick it up. The conversation went something like this:

D: "Pick it up Mommy!"

Me: "It is right by you, you pick it up."

**Pause from Deagan**

D: "Michelle! Pick it up!"

I couldn't help but smile when he called me Michelle. Maybe this day will be better then I am expecting.

I think that wanting your privacy while going potty is a natural instinct that we are all born with and that develops over time. D is beginning to show signs that this privacy is a very important time when going to the bathroom. This afternoon I was making dinner and came in to the living room to check on him. As I walked into the room, he held out his hand and yelled, "No Mom! Go back!" I can always tell when he is done by him allowing me to stay in the same room with him.

D wants me to always watch what he is doing regardless of what it is. His new favorite thing to say is, "WATCH MOM!" over and over.

I was taking a bath, and locked D in the bathroom with me while I did so so I could keep an eye on him. During this process, D was very interested in his old nursing buddies (if you get my drift) and kept saying "Yummy!" "Yummy?" I asked him. "What did it taste like?" "HOT DOGS!" He replied!

D is a big help around the house. He puts things away when I ask him to, sometimes. He helps me fold the laundry, by that I mean he lays in the laundry. He is just a great help. One of his new things is to throw away his diapers after I am done changing him. After a diaper change this afternoon, he proceeded to pick up the diaper and head to the trash. His normal trash that he uses was out of reach, so I told him to go into the bathroom right off of the kitchen and to put the diaper in the trash right next to the toilet. I think all he heard from that was, "Put it in the....toilet." because that is where he put it. Like I said, very helpful! :)
